Security Key to Mobile Device Passkey Registration

Prev Next

This article covers the steps a User must take to change from a physical Security Key to a mobile device Passkey.

Users may need to check with their IT department to ensure the use of a mobile device is allowed. Some credit unions may have policies in place preventing the option of utilizing a mobile device.

Android and Apple mobile devices may be utilized as Security Keys for Beastro login. At this time, Users have the option to utilize either the physical Security Key, or a mobile device - not both. To change the Security Key type, the User must re-register a new device.

Passkey fails to complete validation in iOS
In early April of 2026, Apple released iOS 26.4.1 which included updates to the security of the operating system.  It was observed that if the user also had Microsoft Authenticator with anything lower than 6.8.45 installed, it broke the workflow which resulted in a failed authentication.

The resolution was to update Microsoft Authenticator in this case.
